What Are Experiences?

Experiences are one of the core features of Onsen. Each experience is an AI-powered conversation designed by mental wellness professionals — some are free-form and open-ended, while others guide you through a structured sequence of steps tailored to a specific goal.

Free-form vs. Structured Experiences

In a free-form experience, you direct the conversation. Structured experiences are different — the AI leads you through a predefined set of steps, adapting its questions and guidance based on what you share along the way. Each one has a clear beginning, a structured middle, and a closing reflection.

Think of structured experiences as guided conversations with a goal: reducing anxiety, improving sleep, reflecting on a relationship, or building a new habit. They are a great way to get meaningful support even when you are not sure where to start. Free-form experiences like Just Chat and Guided Journaling are better when you just want to talk or reflect without a set agenda.

  • Guided Reflections — open-ended journaling and free-form conversation with your AI guide
  • Emotional Wellbeing — reframe negative thoughts, express gratitude, and build emotional resilience
  • Mindfulness — guided meditations with affirmations, gratitude, and visualization
  • Trackers — validated psychological questionnaires to track happiness, stress, and gratitude over time

Head to the Experiences tab to browse the full library. From there you can explore categories, read about each experience, and start one whenever you are ready.
